Approved Tutor for the Level 4 Diploma in Dance Education


KATIE LAWRANCE BA HONS F.I.S.T.D.
Katie danced as a child in North East Lincolnshire, taking exams and competing locally, nationally and internationally.
On completing A-levels she gained a BA Hons Degree in German at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. After working in the banking sector for a couple of years, Katie re-trained as a dance teacher with Penny Meekings at The Dance College, gaining her Certificate in Dance Education in Imperial Ballet, Tap, Modern Theatre and National.
Katie ran her own dance school in Bedfordshire for 10 years teaching all genres, and then continued to freelance, teaching Tap and Modern at various schools and colleges across the country. She furthered her training with Penny Meekings, reaching Fellowship level in Tap, and becoming an Approved Tutor for the DDE qualification.
Katie has been tutoring the DDE qualification through a number of Approved Dance Centres since 2010, concentrating on the academic and teaching practice units since 2016.

DDE Level 4 Qualification
The Level 4 Diploma in Dance Education (DDE) Qualification Accreditation Number is 603/3094/6
The qualification is regulated at Level 4 on the Regulated Qualifications Framework and has a credit value of 120.
The Level 4 DDE is an Ofqual regulated teaching qualification, which provides an excellent introduction to a career in teaching dance. It offers student teachers a clear pathway to become a qualified dance teacher with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and allows the opportunity to engage with up-to-date research in best practice related to dance teaching and learning.
